Thee Oh Sees’ eighteenth studio album, An Odd Entrances, is a follow up to their summer album, A Weird Exits, which was released in August. After so many albums and creative side projects, John Dwyer keeps delivering consistent, great music. An Odd Entrances brings a mellowed out, experimental version of Thee Oh Sees. I know, mellow isn’t an adjective you see next to Thee Oh Sees very often. Give it a listen!
“You Will Find It Here,” “Unwrap the Fied pt 1,” and the closing song, “Nervous Tech (Nah John),” are the heaviest songs of the album. Three out of the six songs are instrumental. “At The End, On The Stairs” incorporates one of Dwyer’s renowned guitar riffs that are hard to miss. Dwyer shows his versatility in this album. This isn’t the loud, destructive, and fast-paced Thee Oh Sees; but it is definitely refreshing.
After eighteen albums, Thee Oh Sees still deliver. It will be interesting seeing John Dwyer, Tim Hellman, Dan Rincon, and Ryan Moutinho jam this live. The rowdy crowd might have time to take a breather. (6.5/10)
