Those interested in Düsseldorf’s classic Krautrock scene will want to take note: the forthcoming compilation Electri_city – Elektronische Musik Aus Düsseldorf comes out on October 7 on Grönland Records, chronicling the German city’s striving music scene between 1969 and 1986.

Artists who appear here include Neu!, La Düsseldorf, Wolfgang Riechmann, Harmonia & Eno (Brian Eno’s collaboration with Neu’s Michael Rother and Cluster’s Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Dieter Moebius), Michael Rother, Wolfgang Flür (of Kraftwerk) and more. Note that the CD version is significantly longer than the vinyl version, with 13 songs compared to eight; see the tracklists below.

The album highlights futuristic synth music made before computers, samplers and digital devices were common place. A press release calls this “the sonic account of the city’s most relevant output.”
